Divine Mercy

Jesus appeared to a Polish nun called Sr Faustina (now Saint Faustina) on 22nd February 1931 with a message of hope for the world. Jesus told Sr Faustina to have an image painted of His appearance to her with the words JESUS I TRUST IN YOU at the bottom of the image and gave a miraculous prayer to her and the whole world. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is this prayer Jesus recited. He asked her to pray this every day and  spread the prayer and devotion to the Divine Mercy throughout the world. Jesus told Sr Faustina that whoever would pray this prayer, with Trust in His Mercy, would receive graces from His Infinite Mercy. He told her that whoever would venerate the image of Divine Mercy would also receive the graces when combined with the praying of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Since 1931, the Devotion to the Divine Mercy has spread throughout the world through the prayers and writings of Sr Faustina and her spiritual director Fr Micheal Sopocko and by the prayers and intervention of Pope John Paul II.
